Your Favorite Smiles Deserve Complete Care

Nothing is more important than family.

You want them to be happy. You want them to be healthy.

These are good reasons to find a family dentist office where all your loved ones feel comfortable. As your kids and you get older, your dental needs will change. Your family dentist should be able to keep up with those changes as well.

Our team at the office of Jennifer Perkins, DDS can be that place for you and the people you love. We have decades of experience helping patients of all ages, and we would love the opportunity to show you what we can do.

If you live in or near Huntsville, AL, call 256-801-0002 today to make an appointment with us.

Show & Tell

Dr. Perkins brings a unique background to dental care. After graduating from Louisiana State University, she taught AP biology and chemistry. In time, she pursued her dream of becoming a dentist. The communication skills she learned as a teacher have enhanced everything we do at our practice.

A great example of this is our brushing and flossing demonstrations. As a parent, you want your kids to clean their teeth a well as possible. We are happy to show our patients what they should be doing every day to fight cavities and gum disease.

Remember to brush twice daily for two minutes each time. Scrub your teeth (but not too hard) on all sides with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Change your toothbrush every three or four months.

Cleaning between your teeth is equally important. It’s needed to clean those spaces that your toothbrush can reach well. We’ll be happy to show you and your little one how to use dental floss or to recommend another product to do the same job.

Fluoride Treatments

When you come in for a dental cleaning and exam, that’s just the start of what we can do.

During your exam, we’ll be looking for signs of any problems, so we can treat them as early as possible.

Cleanings are our way of removing tartar and plaque buildup before they can cause cavities and decay.

But you can take things one step further. Every day, harmful bacteria are trying to eat away at the enamel of your teeth. This is call demineralization. If too much of this occurs, tooth decay takes hold.

You can fight this through remineralization. Applying fluoride to your teeth is a great way to do this. Fluoride is a mineral. When it is applied directly to your smile, it can repair minor damage before tooth decay can develop. It also can make your teeth stronger and more resistant to decay.

Dental Sealants

Many parents also take advantage of our dental sealants.

These can be used separate from or in addition to fluoride treatments. Sealants are a kind of clear coating that is applied to teeth and allowed to harden. This creates a protective shell.

It adds an extra layer of protection against cavity-causing bacteria. And from a cost standpoint, they are a bargain compared to fixed cavities in your kids’ mouths.

Smiles Worth Protecting

We know that you would do anything for your children, and we know there is nothing quite like seeing your kids smile.

You can protect those smiles by encouraging good oral hygiene habits, regular dental checkups, and services including fluoride treatments and dental sealants. Dr. Perkins and our team in Huntsville, AL, would be happy to help with all of these things.
