INVISALIGN®
Straightening teeth is often a matter of function, not just aesthetics. Placing undue stress on certain parts of the teeth can cause bone loss and tooth mobility, so orthodontic treatment is crucial. Using our state-of-the-art iTero scanner- a digital intraoral scanner that creates a colorized 3D model of your teeth- allows you to avoid messy, old-fashioned impressions. While Invisalign’s clear aligners work to bring your teeth into alignment, you will still be able to enjoy all your favorite foods and beverages without restriction. You can even whiten your teeth during treatment. No messy impressions, no ugly wires, just freedom!

The Invisalign® System combines advanced 3D computer graphics technology with 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign® aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position prescribed by your provider. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan.
Your first step is to visit our office to determine if Invisalign® is right for you. After sending precise treatment instructions, Invisalign® uses advanced computer technology to translate these instructions in a sequence of finely calibrated aligners — as few as 12 or as many as 48. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually — week by week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Then you’ll be smiling like you never have before!
FAQs
-
Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation with an Invisalign doctor, like Dr. Perkins. She will evaluate your smile and then map out a precise, customized digital treatment plan that showcases the step-by-step transformation of your smile. Once you and Dr. Perkins agree on your treatment plan, your unique aligners will be created. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by our team. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, until you reach your beautiful new smile.
-
Depending on the complexity of your case, you could start seeing results in your treatment in as little as 6 months. Multiple studies have found that Invisalign treatment finished 5 months faster on average than treatment with braces. Dr. Perkins sees many Invisalign® cases completed within an average of 12 months.
-
Invisalign treatment moves your teeth by applying gentle, constant force, but some people do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of aligners. Typically, people describe it as feeling “pressure” and it’s normal — it’s a sign your Invisalign clear aligners are working and transforming your smile. Make an appointment with Dr. Perkins if you have any concerns or experience continued discomfort.
-
In most cases, the cost of Invisalign treatment is comparable to the cost of braces. Dr.Perkins will determine the cost of your treatment based on how complex your case is and how many aligners you need.
-
Most doctors, including Dr. Perkins, recommend that anyone who has completed orthodontic treatment, whether with braces or Invisalign® treatment, use a retainer to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back toward their initial position. Every case is different, so ask Dr. Perkins if you need retainers.
While there are many different types of retainers, Vivera™ retainers use the same state-of-the-art technology that makes up Invisalign aligners, and its material is at least 30% stronger and twice as durable as other leading clear retainer materials.
